Students’ Success Stories

Julia Claiborne-Student

Dear Kids’ Chance of Maryland,

My name is Taylah Armstrong. I will be attending Frostburg State University in the fall of 2019 thanks to Kids’ Chance! I am more than honored to be a recipient of a Kids’ Chance Scholarship. This scholarship was made available to me because my mother passed away as the result of a terrible workplace accident. This scholarship is so important to me because it will allow me to continue my educational career. It will push me closer to my goals and dreams. This scholarship will decrease the amount of money my father would have to pay for me to go to college. I want to say thank you again Kids’ Chance, for allowing me to pursue my dream!

Sincerely,

Taylah Armstrong

Dear Kids’ Chance of Maryland,

Thank you for the scholarship I received!  I am currently attending Towson University for the next two years.  As of today, my family consists of my mom, my older sister, and younger brother.   My sister is enrolled at Hood College while my brother will be graduating high school and will enlist in the Marine Corps.  I received this scholarship because my father passed away from brain cancer in July due to a line of duty death (LODD); he was a fire fighter for the Anne Arundel Co. Fire Department.  The importance of the scholarship is to help my family and me pay for my college education while helping me work towards my goal of working in the forensic science field.”

Thank you!

Dear Kid’s Chance of Maryland,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be able to pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse by aiding me in the financial aspect of college. My father was severely injured in his line of work as a installer in 2008. With this scholarship, I will be able to get a nursing degree, allowing me to help people just like my father who have been injured and need help and guidance in these circumstances. Stevenson University has been my dream college to attend and Kid’s Chance of Maryland has made it possible for those dreams to come true in every aspect.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be one of your scholarship participants,

Dear Kids’ Chance of Maryland, I would like to take the time and say thank you for all that you guys did for me and my family when it came to paying for college. I am truly grateful that I was able to attend college and graduate. I would like to stay in touch and can’t wait to attend the gala party this year. Thank you.”

My mom and I both realized that I met all the criteria for the scholarship, so I applied. Kids’ Chance was the biggest savior for me. It took a lot of the stress off my mom of having to pay for college costs.”
