1. What is Kids' Chance of Maryland, Inc.?

It is a nonprofit corporation developed by the concerned volunteers in Maryland's legal community, in association with insurers, employers, labor, medical and the workers compensation community. The purpose of Kids' Chance is to provide financial scholarships for children of permanently or catastrophically injured or deceased workers to complete their education.

2. Which children are eligible for the scholarships?

Children who have had a parent permanently or catastrophically injured or killed in an employment-related accident compensable under the Maryland Workers' Compensation Act. Children must be Maryland residents between the ages of 16 and 25. The parent's death or injury must have resulted in a substantial decline in the family income.

3. How long is this scholarship for?

The scholarship is good for one year, but the applicant may reapply at the end of one school year for the scholarship for the following school term.

4. What does the scholarship cover?

Scholarship awards vary for college and technical schools and depend largely on the needs and educational expenses of the student. Scholarships cover tuition and books but may also include housing and meals.

5. How can I make a donation?

We are a tax exempt 501(c) (3) organization. We have no paid employees, and all of our work is performed by volunteers. Virtually every penny we raise goes to scholarship grants for the children of injured Maryland workers. Tax deductible contributions may be made by sending a check made payable to Kids Chance of Maryland, Inc. , P.O. Box 20262, Baltimore, MD 21284. We are very grateful for your support.
