Manic Monday

"Manic Monday" kicks off Kids' Chance Awareness Week in Maryland

Kids’ Chance of Maryland board members and volunteers launched national Kids’ Chance Awareness Week on November 14th in Maryland by singing on local television station WJZ-TV’s popular “Manic Monday” live broadcast. Many thanks to all those who showed up in Fells Point before sunrise to participate in Manic Monday and bring awareness to Kids' Chance.

Check out the video here.

Maryland Celebrates National Kids’ Chance Awareness Week

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is pictured holding an official proclamation recognizing Nov. 13-17, 2017 as National Kids’ Chance Awareness Week. There are currently Kids’ Chance organizations based in 39 states across the U.S.

Several Kids’ Chance of Maryland board members and a scholarship recipient were also on hand to recognize the week along with the Governor. From left in photo above are Jim Taylor, board member; Tom Phelan, president; Mattie Hoover, scholarship recipient; Governor Hogan; Rona Finkelstein, secretary; and Pam Anthony, board member.

Thank you to all our Kids’ Chance of Maryland and Baltimore Ravens' fans for making our Oct. 13th Fundraiser at M&T Bank Stadium a big success!

Guests and sponsors enjoyed the football-themed food and had the opportunity to meet Baltimore Ravens’ Defensive Star Brandon Williams. Special recognition to our recent Kids’ Chance scholarship student, Josie Grant Sova, who shared with the attendees how much Kids’ Chance of Maryland impacted her life and helped her to pay for college.

2017 Memorial Walk/Run

Kids’ Chance 2017 Fallen Workers Memorial Run/Walk Helps Raise Awareness, Scholarship Funds

The morning of Sunday, April 9th was brisk but sunny as more than 120 supporters, runners and walkers came out to support the Kids’ Chance of Maryland scholarship fund. This was the 5th annual 5k run and 1m walk. For the 2nd year, it was held at Goucher College in Towson.

After the run and walk there was a memorial reading of the names of the 54 Maryland workers who lost their lives in 2016. The memorial ceremony then ended with a trumpet player playing “Taps.” Check out our Flickr photo album to see photos from the 2017 Workers’ Memorial 5K Run & 1M Walk.
